Richard Miles M.I.M.I., A.M. Inst. B.E., has spent all his working life in motor engineering - much of it with a strong performance bias. His sound engineering skills in extracting high performance without sacrificing reliability have been proven over many years not only with race and rally championship winning cars, but with satisfied owners of road cars - modern and 'classic' alike.
Before moving to Devon, Richard made his name as 'right hand man' to Daniel Richmond's team at Downton Engineering-famous for making (proper) Minis go indecently fast on and off the track. (And he himself is no slouch on the track either.)
Officially, his wife Jean looks after the finances and the books - unofficially, her main task is keeping everyone in order!
Today son Stephen has joined them in the business having gained a superb grounding at Janspeed Engineering where he was a key member of the team responsible for engine development & preparation for the Nissan BTCC cars. He follows in his father's footsteps in other ways too, being extremely quick behind the wheel as he has frequently shown when competing on the track.
Apart from providing good, old fashioned personal service, The Tipton Team is particularly well placed to understand our customer's needs as we are like-minded individuals. Our own cars include immaculate examples of 'rare breeds' such as Lotus Elan, Avenger Tiger, Ford Escort Mexico; Ford Escort RS and even a 2 litre, 16 valve engined Nova.
