31st October
Falling back into pattern
Hello Folks. The next fair in Lechlade is this Sunday, November 2nd, and if the weather is as forecast, we are in for a splendid day, and a full house of dealers awaits, come and see for yourself! Well, here we are and we all managed to be at the fair at the right time over last weekend. As ever the results were varied, yet with one dealer, he reported the best fair there for about 2 years, and he was only there on the Saturday. Other sales which did well, were jewellery, and small furniture. Our next fair is at Lechlade this coming Sunday, November 2nd. Well, I may have some bad news for you all, the end of British Summer Time is this Sunday morning, however the good news is, we get time for an extra cup of tea, or an hours sleep extra! We hope that everyone will remember, and I shall have 3 alarm clocks to help me. We have a great selection of dealers this weekend at Burford School, follow AA road signs, and don't forget that if you decide to visit us on Saturday, free entry can be obtained for Sunday, so the additional dealers can be seen on the Sunday. Hope to see you there, all the best, Andy. Here we are in the summer, and thankfully not as wet as last year, so many fields and walks can be enjoyed again. So, if looking for something to be inspired about, come and see us at The New Memorial Hall, just behind Jubilee Hall Antiques Centre, and peruse our stalls of goodies. We have quality silver (lots too!) furniture, jewellery, porcelain and ceramics, and a little glass can often be seen too, as well as many other items. We have a small tea shop on site, and we hope that you enjoy our temporary caterer whilst Sue and Julian are away, they will be back for the next Lechlade Fair. Well, whilst loading up my van I often find my neighbours cat fussing me, and recently caught him as seen here, after I had to answer the phone! Fat Cat Fairs is named after an old ginger cat from years ago, maybe this one is another follower. Our next fair is this weekend, and we hope o be back to "normal" at the school, please follow the AA signs to the fair. Catering shall be operated by "The Butty Box" and we look forward to thier selection of items for the weekend. The fair has a few available spaces, but we are happy with the 2 day fair, and please remember that if paying for entry on Saturday, free entry can be obtained by asking for a ticket for the next day, so that the additional dealers coming on a Sunday can be seen, and the difference in the fair noticed and enjoyed. Hope to see you there, andy. Our fair yesterday in Lechlade was a great looking show, and many compliments were received, so it's not just me saying so. Sales results were mixed as always, and the better ones came from silver, jewellery, and ceramics / pottery. We were complimented by the posh ceramics fair at Burford School, and a few of the stallholders from there came to see us, and bought very wisely, proving yet again that we offer great value, as those purchases were not made early in the day, so if you know what you like, our fairs can even save you money! Sue and Julian were on duty for the day in the kitchen, and as Annie cannot help next month, we will have a temp on show, but many of you will know him from other fairs in the area. Yesterdays lunch was a pleasant roast, and as the summer weather turned to rain, seemed to go down quite well, despite having a slow start! Our next event is the "Woodstock Antiques Fair" on the weekend of 12th & 13th of July. See you inThe Town Hall. Our next "Fat Cat Fair" will be in Burford on 26th & 27th July. Our next fair a Lechlade this Sunday July 6th promises to be a good one, with an almost full house, (1 area on the stage, and the foyer available for booking) we are offering a great fair for our customers to see and enjoy, maybe even buy a few things. We shall have a new lady with us from Worcestershire and she will be selling Moorcroft, jewellery and ceramics, it sounds to me that she will be putting on a good stall. Our two Johns (no relations) are away elsewhere, and so those areas will be occupied by different people, let me know what you think. The stage will have furniture and mixed items displayed, whilst much of the hall will be our regular dealers offering a wide range of items as many of you see, the early bird often noticing the new stock before lunch when many customers decide their purchases over tea' coffee, biscuits, and lunches. Our food at Lechlade is provided by Sue, and sometimes Julian or one of their friends helping hold the fort. Not sure what is on the menu this week, but come and find out for yourselves. Burford June 21st & 22nd Well, what an interesting fair! With a new caretaker, headmistress, and finance manager, the school has been so busy sortng itself out that it managed to double book our regular fair with a small one off concert conducted by a school teacher, without informing or asking us, no suprise there eh? Anyway, I found out on my way to the fair on Saturday when one of the stallholders arrved a few minutes before me, and correctly rang to tell me that we had a serious problem for the weekend. We had been moved to the Gym, a smaller room, and so filled that, and the entrance foyer for the Saturday whilst the main room lay empty for most of the day, infuriating many of our visitors, standholders, and me! Chaos struck for a while whilst the concert organisers were anxious to occupy the same space in the foyer, as we were trying to finish, and eventually one of the caretakers turned up, so I could go home, after a long. stressfull and very tiring day. Sunday began early, setting up the normal hall area for the newcomers to the fair, and with working efficiently I set up the hall to make the fair look as good as I could, despite being split over two rooms, as it was unrealistic to entirely move rooms without any additional time or assistance. The days results were mixed as always, and the closing down of the fair took longer too so that we all were a lot more tired than usual, that well earned sandwich and glass of wine was really appreciated! Food over the weekend was provided by "The Butty Box" of carterton, and they kept us very well fed, with tasty rolls, and cakes provided swftly and efficently at all times. Mark often can be seen walking around the fair on his delivery round, helping dealers stay by their stalls and sell! Debbie seems to be often hiding around the corner, keeping the hot cabinet ready and stocked. Next month, we hope to be back to normal, so I shall keep you all in touch with any progress on that matter. Hope you have a good day today, and at the time of writing, the sun is breaking through cloud, and it looks like a pleasant day will be enjoyed by many. Regards to all, see you soon, Andy On June 21st & 22nd, we are proudly presenting our sixth 2 day Burford Antiques Fair. Open from 9am until 4pm, we are looking as though we will have a reat selection of items including 2 dealers new to the fair, offering oriental items, and a mixture of Georgian to Edwardian furniture. This fair has more deallers on the Sunday than it does on the Saturday, however to offer visitors to really see the difference a day makes, we offer Saturday visitors a ticket for Free Entry on the following day, just ask us at the main door for a ticket!
